WHAT THE MUSIC EXPERTS SAY

Fine musicianship and great song selection. I am most impressed with the band’s versatility, shifting from Latin rhythms to hard-swinging post-bop to flat-out rocking 70’s era fusion. One thing you can count on: whatever they play, they turn it into party music.

The Quarter Bistro is proud to present some of the area's finest musical talent on Thursday evenings. HDjazz has been performing once a month since the summer of 2006. Whenever they play, their soulful jazz lights up the entire restaurant.

Hal’s band plays soulful jazz that has a great groove and is very easy on the ears. I suggest you check out this hot new quartet of fine musicians. I like their sound a lot, and I think you will too.

Ann Arbor Summer Festival’s Top of the Park

Subject: Swinging
Fellas, You guys don’t swing. And it’s a guitar for cryin’ out loud. How can you call that jazz? Sounds more like rock or R&B. I don’t understand why the audience likes it so much.

Subject: An evening with HD Jazz
There is no need to classify this music. Just listen. An evening with HD Jazz is a fresh escape after my hectic day. Is that Jazz? Maybe Rock? Who cares? I know this stuff. I love this stuff. Just being there is good energy. Some nights just go that way.
